Check out my blog post about Why I Do Yoga.
Have you been wanting to try yoga but have been intimidated by the super fit contorted images you see online? Feel like some of the classes you have been to are too advanced? Or do you want a refresher of the basics to deepen your current practice? Then these are the classes for you.
Classes are designed for even the most self-conscious people feel ready to go to any yoga class. With attention on modifications, breathing, and covering the basics of alignment and movement, each class will lay the foundation for a personal yoga practice or will enhance an existing practice.
My style of teaching could be described as a vinyasa or flow class. My training has been based in the teachings of B.K.S. Iynegar, a Hatha yoga teacher. I completed my teacher training at Five Points Yoga Studio, here in Athens. All classes are open to all levels of fitness. If you are new to yoga and/or have any physical limitations, I do like to have a one on one consultation at some point to learn how I can support and teach you the best. Classes can be paid for at the class time, I have a square reader for cards, and accept checks or cash as well.
**A note on Yoga Mats. It is recommended that you bring your own mat for classes however, there will be some mats available for you to use at the studio. Mats can be purchased online or at many retailers. A good started mat is made through Gaiam and is available at many big box stores. There are fancier and more eco-friendly (more expensive) mats that are worth the investment if you are going to practicing yoga regularly. We like Aurorae, Manduka, and Liforme. But there are many many types of mats which will do just fine!
