About
Jacqueline Reis, LMSW
The therapeutic relationship is an opportunity for practicing safe connection, exploring patterns that are no longer helpful, and establishing a story of self that is empowered. I will provide an individually tailored approach that walks towards healing the mind, body, & spirit through affirmative techniques such as grounding the physical body and mind, EMDR, and expressive/experiential processing.
Our greatest strengths can be found in the company of the parts of ourselves we avoid. While working together, I will show up in a deeply authentic way so that you may feel safe to do the same. Our work is centered in honoring your mind & body exactly where you are. As a trauma-informed therapist, I prioritize a client’s sense of voice, choice, and power. Learning to find comfort in laughter & basking in joy are cornerstones of my practice.
My approach honors intersecting identities and considers how a client’s full & unique lived experiences have shaped who they are. I integrate both standard talk therapy that helps to reframe thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with somatic practices, to acknowledge how emotions and memories show up as sensations in the body. I encourage you to share with me how you best learn and process, so our time together is tailored to your needs.
I am a social worker who helps individuals with complex and acute trauma, chronic illness, and integrating one’s voice and passions back into daily life. I find that I do my best work with neurodiverse adults and especially value the context and life experience that comes from working with middle-aged clients. My background is in integrative healthcare with specialized training in the healing of trauma.
Outside of my professional role, I enjoy making art and handmade cards from found objects, being active through swimming and outdoor walks, and cooking creative meals. I bolster my therapy practice with advocacy work for under-resourced groups through art activism. If you feel curious about working towards understanding yourself, letting go of survival skills that no longer benefit you, and uplifting your unique gifts and strengths, I encourage you to take care of your important needs and reach out.
Your future self will thank you!
