Supervision for MSWs
Clinical Supervision for social workers is available with Valerie McGuinness, LCSW. All masters level social workers are required to have direct clinical review by a fully licensed social worker for the purpose of training and teaching. According to the Georgia Secretary of State Licensing board the purpose of supervision is to promote the development of the practitioner's clinical skills through the use of presentations and review of specific cases.
When you meet with Valerie for your supervision hours, you can split the time with other professionals, or meet individually. We will discuss ethics, personal challenges, and your specific cases as needed along with Diagnostic Criteria and decision making in treatment. Valerie has experience with emergency assessments, treatment planning, severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse and the legal system, in home and in clinic services. Flexible meeting times and Web-based conferencing available for those outside of the Athens area or those with busy schedules. Availability for ongoing meetings or single case consultations.
Rate: $75/hour for individual, sliding scale avaiable. Contact for more information

Ongoing Drop In Supervision Group: Second Friday of the Month
Join Valerie for 2 hours of group supervision meeting online. Sessions will consist of short instruction on therapy topics (mindfulness, trauma informed care, attachment injury, ethics etc) followed by discussion of specific cases brought by supervisees and questions. First meeting is individual at a flexible scheduled time at a cost of $60. Then group supervision sessions are $40/session and can be attended on a drop in basis.
Valerie has worked in a variety of mental health settings since 2006. Will be completing any required training for supervision and licensure.
